D.Jays Gourmet was started in 1985 by Derek & Jo, a husband and wife team. D.Jays Gourmet still operates as a family owned and run business today, as the next generations have joined the business.
Derek a highly skilled butcher, along with wife Jo were producing biltong for their friends and family who, like them, had immigrated to Australia from South Africa.
As the smell filtered through the neighbourhood and word got out about the delicious biltong and dried sausage they were making, soon the whole community was asking for D.Jays products.
In 1999 the family upgraded to a purpose built factory in Malaga to distribute biltong and jerky across Australia.
